The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammad Aljarwan, praised the clauses of the Egyptian initiative for solving the Libyan crisis, which included emphasizing the unity, integrity, and independence of the Libyan lands, respecting all the international efforts and initiatives and the Security Council’s relevant resolutions, and working on restoring the Libyan national state institutions while defining a national Libyan-Libyan mechanism suitable to revive the political track under the auspices of the United Nations.
In his statement, Mr. Aljarwan said that the announcement of the Egyptian initiative to resolve the Libyan crisis, that was declared by the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Federal Palace, in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Mr. Aqila Saleh, and in which the Egyptian president called for elections’ preparation in which all Libyan regions would participate in leading the country, affirms the Egyptian political leadership’s keenness to maintain the Libyan and Arab national security.
Mr. Aljarwan affirmed that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace strongly condemns the outrageous interferences of any foreign forces on the Libyan territories, indicating that the GCTP supports the Egyptian efforts calling for an immediate cease-fire in Libya and a return to the political track.
Mr. Aljarwan called on the Libyan bodies, on top of them the Government of National Accord and the Libyan National Army, to immediately respond to the Egyptian initiative and to prevail the common national interest in order to stop the bloodshed and the continuous fighting, to pave the way for building the state of independent Libyan institutions.
