On International Day of Parliamentarism, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace praised the role of parliamentarians in spreading tolerance and peace

On International Day of Parliamentarism, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Jarwan, praised the great role that parliamentarians are playing in developing, stabilizing, securing and spreading peace in their countries, and their hard work on all what would lead to the prosperity of the nations and preserves their capabilities.

Mr. AL Jarwan indicated that the Council has established a first of its kind initiative “the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace” which is specialized in spreading tolerance and peace around the world. It is one of the most important organs of the Council and one of its main pillars, due to the pivotal role of the parliaments and the Parliamentarians, and their great influence as representatives of the nations around the world. He pointed out that the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace now includes around 70 parliamentarians from 70 national parliaments from all over the world, 20 of them are from Africa, 18 from Europe, 15 from Central and South America, 12 from Asia and 2 from Oceania.

Al-Jarwan commended the members of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace and the great efforts they make through their permanent committees while working on discussing different means of raising and spreading the values of tolerance and peace in the political, legal, developmental, social, educational and media fields, emphasizing on the great role they are playing in serving peoples all over the world to spare them from the scourge of the crises, the conflicts and the spread of violence, extremism and terrorism resulting from racial, religious and ethnic discrimination, and their hard work to cultivate a culture of tolerance for future generations and spare them from falling into the traps of propagators of extremist and destructive ideas.
