During the 11th Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, along with its parliament representing over 100 countries worldwide, officially launched the Peace Charter
The global council for tolerance and peace and its international parliament; representing over 100 countries, officially launched the “Peace Charter” during the 11th session of the international parliament for tolerance & peace.This significant event took a place at the Cambodian parliament in Phnom Penh, with distinguished attendees, the prime minister Hun Manet of Cambodia, Hun Sen, president of the senate, and Khuon Sudary, speaker of the national assembly.
In the attendance of over 80 participants, including national and regional parliamentary leaders, representatives of international organizations advocating for tolerance and peace worldwide.In his opening address, H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Kingdom of Cambodia, its leadership, and its people for hosting this historic session.
He praised Cambodia’s pivotal role in promoting the values of global tolerance and peace.Al Jarwan also extended his thanks to H.E. Sous Yara, President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, for his exceptional efforts in organizing the session.
He highlighted the significance of the event, marking it as a “global milestone” with the launch of the International Peace Charter.
H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan emphasized that the world is currently facing significant challenges, including armed conflicts and humanitarian crises.He underlined the urgent need for adopting the Peace Charter to foster dialogue and build a sustainable future characterized by peace and cooperation.
Al Jarwan highlighted that the charter serves as a testament to the ability of parliamentarians and representatives of peoples to confront these global challenges with unity and responsibility. He noted that the development of the charter took nearly a year of dedicated effort in collaboration with the Council’s member states.
Expressing optimism, he revealed plans to activate the charter’s provisions through the formation of an international committee of experts, aiming to translate its principles into actionable strategies for global peace and tolerance.
H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan called for resolving conflicts peacefully through dialogue and negotiations.Condemning the acts of violence and displacement, particularly those targeting women, children, and the elderly. Al Jarwan emphasized the importance of supporting United Nations institutions, such as the United Nations (UNRWA) in Palestine.H.E. Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, welcomed H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan and his accompanying delegation in Phnom Penh. During the meeting, Hun Sen commended the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace for its efforts in promoting values of tolerance and peace worldwide. He specifically praised the launch of the Peace Charter during the 11th session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, highlighting its significance in addressing the urgent global need for initiatives that foster international peace.
Hun Sen reaffirmed his support, as well as Cambodia’s, for the Peace Charter, emphasizing the importance of such efforts in enhancing opportunities for global peace and cooperation.
H.E. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, welcomed H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the council’s efforts and those of the participating parliaments in launching the Peace Charter.He emphasized Cambodia’s full support for the charter and its commitment to assisting in the implementation of its provisions globally.
In the sidelines of the Session, The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) with various organizations includes International Conference of Political Parties (ICPP), Parliament of the Republic of Chad,The Parliament of the People’s Republic of Hungary, The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), The International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), and The Advisory Water Council of the Asian National Assembly (AAWC); aiming to strengthen cooperation in promoting tolerance and peace.
