His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and his accompanying delegation met with Ms. Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, at their headquarters in the Swiss capital, Geneva.
Al Jarwan provided a detailed explanation to Ms. Michelle Bachelet on the role of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, as well as its objectives and mechanisms , through various international relations, whether in governments, parliaments or even in religious and educational institutions and media organizations, in order to spread a Culture of tolerance and peace around the world.
Al Jarwan stressed the importance of communication and joint work between the Global Council and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for the sake of world peace.
For her Part, The High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet Praised the role of HE Al Jarwan and the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and stressed the importance of the Council’s work in relation to the extremist ideas, racism, and terrorism that the world is facing recently.
Ms. Michelle Bachelet also praised the initiatives of the council and its various organs, which includes its Constituent and General Assembly and its international parliament.
Both sides discussed the different ways of cooperating and working together through the exchange of experiences and through mutual coordination in favor of tolerance and peace throughout the world.
