The tenth session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace was held in the Moroccan House of Representatives and Dakhla, Morocco
The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace held the session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in its tenth session, hosted by the Moroccan House of Representatives in the cities of Rabat and Dakhla, with the participation of more than 60 parliamentarians, representing various parliaments of the world, to discuss international developments related to tolerance and peace and ways to find solutions to the political, economic and security challenges the world is currently facing.
The session was attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, His Excellency Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, His Excellency Mayara, Speaker of the House of Councilors of the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Duarte Bajeko, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mrs. Margherita Restrepo, President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, and a number of ambassadors and diplomats accredited to the Kingdom of Morocco.
In his opening speech, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of the Kingdom of Morocco, and to the Moroccan House of Representatives headed by His Excellency Rachid Talbi Alami for hosting the tenth session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, which is being held this time in a distinguished manner in the Kingdom of Morocco, which is considered a cradle for a culture of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and peace. Al Jarwan said that: “The world is facing security challenges and economic crises that threaten global food security and exacerbate climate change crises, and it is our duty as peace-loving people and representatives of peoples to work to confront these risks and threats in various ways and possibilities, and because we in the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace believe in the necessity of resolving all conflicts through peaceful means and through the negotiating table and give maximum opportunity for peaceful solutions, through this session, we hope to stop all forms of violence and the use of force in all parts of the world. We also believe that securing food is a prerequisite for achieving global peace and tolerance and is a basis for building stability and peace”.
And in Rabat, the work of the tenth session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace began with the meetings of the parliament’s committees and its bureau at the headquarters of the Moroccan House of Representatives, with the participation of 60 parliamentarians representing various parliaments of the world. On a related level, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met at the Council’s headquarters, Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, and they discussed developments in joint work related to tolerance and peace and ways to enhance joint action to spread these values and renounce violence, extremism and hatred.
The work of the tenth session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, hosted by the Moroccan Parliament in Dakhla, Morocco, was concluded, where the final statement of the session was announced.
The final statement stressed the responsibilities of parliamentarians as representatives of their peoples in the current difficult circumstances and the crucial role of maintaining and strengthening tolerance and peace in the face of emerging global developments and the importance of peaceful solutions in negotiations to confront all existing and emerging conflicts. It also emphasized support for the conservation of agricultural biodiversity while relying on science, innovation and responsible behaviour that complements traditional knowledge, local food culture and best practices On the other hand, the statement stressed the need to expand and strengthen global parliamentary alliances to meet the basic needs of humanity. It called on states to respect their signed agreements on food delivery, especially in cases where the beneficiaries are developing countries at risk of famine and appealed to all states and relevant international organizations to take steps to exempt trade in food, humanitarian supplies and fertilizers from sanctions, export bans, and extraordinary taxes and fees.
The closing session, which was held at the Conference Palace in Dakhla, was attended by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, His Excellency Mr. Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, Mr. Khattat Yenga, President of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and His Excellency Obeid Al Salami, Member of the Federal National Council, representative of the State The UAE and 60 parliamentarians representing various parliaments of the world. On the side-lines of the closing session, memorandum of understanding and joint action was signed between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Moroccan House of Representatives in the field of parliamentary work, exchanging experiences and visits. the agreement was signed by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan and His Excellency Rashid Talbi Al Alami. a similar memorandum was also signed between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Uruguayan Parliament.
At the conclusion of the tenth session, the presidency of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in its new session was handed over to Mr. Mohamed Zbidi, Member of Parliament in the Republic of the Comoros, succeeding Mrs. Margherita Restrepo from Colombia, and the nomination of H.E. Representative Yara Sous from Cambodia as First Vice-President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.
