The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Holds the Ninth Session of its international parliament at the headquarters of the Federal National Council in the UAE, and the Conference on the Role of Parliaments and Global Organizations in Promoting the Values of Tolerance and Coexistence in Expo Dubai 2020

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace held its ninth session of its international parliament, chaired by His Excellency Ahmed bin Muhammad al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and Her Excellency Margarita Restrepo, President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, at the Headquarters of the Federal National Council, which hosted committee meetings. Plenary sessions will be on 26-27 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, respectively.

The session, which was opened by His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, was attended by a number of presidents and representatives of national and regional parliaments representing more than 60 countries around the world, and a number of ambassadors and diplomats representing the participating countries.

In a related context and in cooperation with the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arab Emirates in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arab Emirates, the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace held the international conference entitled “The Role of Parliaments and International Organizations in Promoting the Values of Tolerance and Coexistence” at the headquarters of Expo Dubai 2020. His Excellency Heri Rajonarimampinina, the former President of the Republic of Madagascar, Her Excellency Kolinda Carabar, the former President of Croatia, members of national parliaments and representatives of the Arab League, and a number of presidents of specialized Arab federations, participated in the ninth session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.

In the final communique 9th Session of IPTP, the IPTP reiterated its commitment to the values of tolerance and peace, its full respect for the United Nations (UN) Charter, recognizing the influential role of promoting the values of tolerance and peace in light of emerging global developments and the importance of empowering women and young people, emphasizing the growing international representativeness of our Council, enhancing cooperation and continuous work around the world, praising the role of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates as a prominent example in promoting tolerance and peace, awareness of the importance of the issue of climate change as a common concern of all humanity and the importance of the safety of all ecosystem and environmental system, calling for parliamentary platforms, their primary objectives are to spread tolerance and peace around the world and increase countries’ investments in sustainable development, praising Multiculturalism based on interreligious and interethnic dialogue for solidarity and tolerance among all people, regardless of race, color or religion, taking into account, always, the need to expand and strengthen global coalitions to meet the needs of contemporary society, condemning, in the strongest terms, gross violations of human rights in all kinds of conflicts that pose a threat to all humanity, emphasizing the critical importance for diplomatic solutions to the most urgent international humanitarian and security issues around the world, complying with relevant United Nations resolutions, welcoming all efforts to find a negotiated solution to the current military conflict in Ukraine, condemning all attacks by al-Houthi militia on civilians in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, agreeing to establish deeper, broader and more effective cooperation to promote the human values of tolerance and peace, reducing and eliminating inflammatory statements that do not contribute to negotiated solutions and advocating peace through immediate diplomatic solutions to which we are fully committed to with help and engagement.
