The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Commends the General Assembly’s Adoption of a Resolution on Islamophobia

His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, has lauded the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution aimed at combating Islamophobia.

Al Jarwan warmly welcomed the international resolution, emphasizing its potential to foster love, tolerance, and mutual respect among people. He highlighted that the resolution signifies a major step towards raising awareness and fostering responsibility in the realm of respecting religions, beliefs, and sanctities. Moreover, he noted its potential to alleviate tension in areas where cultures intersect and coexist, while promoting greater cooperation among people worldwide irrespective of their religious affiliations and beliefs.

The resolution calls for concrete measures, including action by the United Nations, to address Islamophobia. It strongly condemns any incitement to discrimination, hostility, or violence against Muslims, as well as the desecration of holy books.

President Al Jarwan reiterated the Council’s commitment to collaborating with its diverse partners and members globally to uphold principles that champion tolerance, coexistence, and peace. He affirmed the Council’s steadfast support for such significant international decisions.
