Malta –
The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has praised its strong and longstanding relationship with His Beatitude Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, emphasizing that this ongoing engagement reflects a shared commitment to promoting a culture of tolerance and peace.
H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Council, affirmed that Patriarch Al-Rahi holds profound spiritual and national stature and is widely regarded as a leading voice for dialogue and human connection—not only among institutions, but across religions, cultures, and communities. He highlighted the Patriarch’s enduring efforts to promote compassion, moderation, and coexistence, noting their positive impact on social stability and civil peace in Lebanon and the wider region.
Aljarwan added that the Council draws inspiration from His Beatitude’s wise positions and his consistent call for openness and mutual understanding. These principles, he noted, continue to support the Council’s international work in advancing tolerance and fostering peaceful societies.
He concluded by reaffirming the Council’s commitment to further strengthening this relationship and deepening coordination with His Beatitude, in service of shared humanitarian values and the broader pursuit of peace and mutual understanding among peoples of all faiths and and backgrounds.
