Statement by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace on the Escalation of Military Conflict in Gaza

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace strongly condemns the continuous airstrikes on civilians and ground operations conducted by Israel in the Gaza Strip. In a statement addressing the dire situation in the besieged territory, the Council expresses its strong disapproval of the military escalation and the exacerbating humanitarian crisis. This crisis, in turn, poses an imminent threat, leading to further loss of life among civilians, including the vulnerable, sick, and injured.

Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, underscores the collective stance of the Council, its members, and partners worldwide, emphasizing the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire. The primary objective is to avert further bloodshed and to refrain from targeting civilians, civil institutions, and health facilities. Al Jarwan stresses the importance of upholding the safety of civilians, especially women and children, in accordance with international humanitarian law, treaties, and human rights.

Additionally, Al Jarwan calls upon all relevant international entities to promptly intervene, putting an end to the military escalation operations and ensuring the protection of civilians. He advocates for the establishment of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the safe and sustainable delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip. Simultaneously, Al Jarwan urges the initiation of a political and diplomatic resolution to the crisis by activating the two-state solution and establishing the State of Palestine, aligning with international legitimacy resolutions.

The statement also emphasizes the imperative to implement the United Nations General Assembly resolution advocating for a “humanitarian truce” and a cessation of hostilities in Gaza.
