On the 8th of March of every year, the world celebrates the International Women Day (IWD), recognizing the achievements and the efforts of women in various fields and their contribution in leading the change for a sustainable future.
The 2022 International Women’s Day brings the world together under the theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” and calls for climate action for women, by women.
On this day, the Global council for Tolerance and Peace , uphold the vital role of women in peace building and tolerance advocating, driving the change for a sustainable future, believing that empowering women, one of the main steps to solve economic, social, and cultural issues, is crucial to advance sustainable development, education and human rights based on wisdom, tolerance and understanding.
In his statement for IWD, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, says “ While every day is an opportunity to celebrate women in our lives, the International Women’s day gives us one more reason to recognize women’s achievements, to empower them, to advocate for gender equality, and to honor their leadership and contribution towards a sustainable future.
” He also says “ We believe in women ‘s capabilities in decision making and in driving the sustainable future. They are critical to the council’s success.
They lead the international Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) and the General Assembly for Tolerance and peace (GATP) and chairs the IPTP standing committees. They are visionaries, innovators, mentors, and advocates who drive new ways of thinking and doing. They forge meaningful change and work to build a more sustainable future.
” He also stressed the vital link between gender, social equity and climate change, and calls for achieving gender equality recognize that without gender equality today there is no sustainable future. At the end of his statement, Al Jarwan addressed Women saying “Stand out and Maintain your Achievements and Responsibilities. You are the Driver for Stability and Sustainable Future.”
