Speaker of Cyprus Parliament meets President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace
Speaker of Cyprus Parliament Demetris Syllouris today met President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) H.E. Ahmad bin Mohammad Aljarwan and the accompanying delegation which is currently visiting Cyprus.
During the meeting, Speaker of Cyprus Parliament welcomed H.E. Aljarwan and the accompanying delegation, hailing the role played by the Council and its International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) and the efforts exerted by them for spreading the culture of tolerance in light of the current circumstances in the world.
He affirmed that the presence of such international efforts is a pressing need, expressing the readiness of Cyprus Parliament for the joint work and for mobilizing all of its capabilities to support the efforts exerted by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP)
He also expressed Cyprus readiness to join the GCTP through nominating a representative of its parliament in response to the invitation by H.E. Aljarwan in this regard,
For his part, Aljarwan reviewed the latest developments of the GCTP work and the mechanisms which it adopts for spreading the culture of tolerance and supporting peace efforts around the world and for facing the extremist and racial thoughts and terrorism.
Aljarwan lauded Cyprus’ role in the domain of spreading the culture of tolerance and peace, underlining the importance of its geographical location as it forms a juncture between the East and the West.
He touched upon the role of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) which is affiliated to the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the relentless efforts which it exerts for unifying the international parliamentary efforts for spreading tolerance and supporting peace across the world.
