President of the Senate of Kazakhstan receives Al-Jarwan

The President of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and his accompanying delegation in Astana, the Kazakh capital, praising the role of the Council in the dissemination of tolerance and peace around the world.

Al-Jarwan briefed the President of the Kazakh Senate on the latest developments of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and its work mechanisms through parliamentary diplomacy in spreading a culture of tolerance, supporting peace efforts around the world and confronting extremist ideas, racism and terrorism.

Al-Jarwan also exalted the role and position of Kazakhstan in the promotion of tolerance and peace, and the importance of its geographical position in linking East and West. He explained to Mr. Tokayev the role of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, one of the organs of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and its endeavors to unify international parliamentary efforts specialized in spreading tolerance and promoting peace in the world.

Al-Jarwan called on the President of the Kazakh Senate to nominate a member of his council to the membership of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.

For his part, Tokayev highly praised the function of the Global Council and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, stressing the importance of the role played by the Council especially in this period. He also expressed the readiness of the senate to work together and harness all possibilities to support the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and to nominate a member from the senate to the membership of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.

Al-Jarwan and his accompanying delegation met with the Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Kaletayev, who welcomed the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and his accompanying delegation, praising the Council’s role in spreading the culture of tolerance among people and different religions around the world.

Al-Jarwan briefed the Kazakh minister on the latest developments in the council’s work and its efforts to unite international efforts to cultivate a culture of tolerance among generations to reach a more peaceful and tolerant world.

For his part, the Kazakh minister hailed the directions of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, stressing the importance of the role of the Council in light of the world’s various conflicts and disputes based on sectarian and ethnic foundations and extremist and terrorist ideas. He emphasized the support of his ministry and the Government of Kazakhstan for the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and invited Al-Jarwan to attend the sixth international conference on religions organized by the Kazakh government in October this year.

The delegation of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace headed by President Al-Jarwan also met with Aidar Abuov, director of the International Center for Cultures and Religions, at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in Astana. The two sides reviewed the importance of unifying international efforts in support of the endeavors of rapprochement between people, cultures and religions, and spreading the values of tolerance and peace.

Mr. Abuov hailed the efforts of Al-Jarwan and the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in this field, highlighting the importance of the Council’s efforts and the support of his center to work together with the Council in pursuit of its lofty goals for a more tolerant and peaceful world.
