President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Discusses Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation with the Swiss Parliament
Zurich – H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met with H.E. Hans-Peter Portmann, Chairman of the Swiss Parliament’s Committee on International Relations and Member of the National Council (Parliament) of Switzerland.
The meeting focused on ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the Council and the Swiss side, and on developing joint initiatives to promote the culture of tolerance and peace worldwide.
During the discussion, Aljarwan highlighted Switzerland’s important role in advancing dialogue, neutrality, and peace, praising the Swiss model as a remarkable example of managing cultural and religious diversity within a framework of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
For his part, Hans-Peter Portmann expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in strengthening dialogue among nations and parliaments. He also voiced his strong understanding and support for the Council’s goals and global initiatives, reaffirming his commitment to reinforcing ties between the Council and the Swiss Parliament in pursuit of shared values of peace and human solidarity.
This meeting comes as part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to expand its international parliamentary partnerships and foster closer collaboration with legislative institutions in Europe and around the world, in support of its universal mission to advance tolerance and peace.
