Paraguayan Parliament Honors President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and Expresses Intent to Host Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in Early 2026

In a special session held at the headquarters of the Paraguayan Parliament in the capital Asunción, the Parliament hosted H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Raúl Latorre, President of the Paraguayan Parliament, along with a number of deputies, officials, and diplomats.
During the session, Al Jarwan delivered a concise presentation on the Council’s achievements since its founding in the Republic of Malta in 2017, highlighting its ongoing efforts to promote dialogue among peoples and international parliamentary cooperation to achieve security, peace, and sustainable development. He also addressed the Council’s partnerships with various parliaments and institutions across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
As part of an official tribute, H.E. Dr. Raúl Latorre, President of the Paraguayan Parliament, personally honored H.E. Al Jarwan with the “TOMÁS BENJAMIN ACEVAL BOGARÍN Award of Merit”, one of the highest distinctions in Paraguay. The award is granted to outstanding global figures in the fields of thought, environment, and service to humanity. It is named after one of the most prominent scientists and thinkers in the history of Paraguay and Latin America.
Al Jarwan also engaged in discussions with the President of Parliament, parliamentarians, and a group of distinguished figures from Paraguay’s political, educational, and business sectors on the importance of combatting terrorism, extremism, and violence worldwide.
The session received strong engagement from members of the Paraguayan Parliament, who praised the role and achievements of the Council in the fields of tolerance, peace, coexistence, and development, affirming their country’s support for humanitarian initiatives aimed at enhancing global stability.
At the conclusion of the session, it was agreed that Paraguay would host a plenary session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in the capital Asunción in early 2026.
Meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of Paraguay

As part of the Council’s official visit to Paraguay, H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met with H.E. Mr. Pedro Lorenzo Alliana, Vice President of the Republic of Paraguay. The two leaders discussed avenues for joint cooperation in promoting the culture of tolerance and supporting humanitarian and development initiatives in Latin America and beyond.
During the meeting, the Vice President reaffirmed Paraguay’s full support for the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and expressed his country’s interest in expanding partnerships with international institutions working to serve humanitarian causes around the world.
