In an innovative initiative, multinational fast food chain McDonald’s has decided to flip its ‘hallmark golden arches’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8. At least one outlet of McDonald’s in California has turned the iconic ‘M’ sign of the company upside down, according to reports.
The company is using a similar logo on its official website, Twitter and Instagram handles as well.
In a statement, McDonald’s chief diversity officer Wendy Lewis said, “In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day on March 8 in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants.”
In a bid to showcase their inclusive policy, the statement claimed that in US, 62 per cent of McDonald’s employees are female, six out of 10 of restaurant managers are women.
The website of the company is also running a campaign under which women employees of McDonald’s have shared inspirational stories from their lives.
