The pope complained about what he described as the lack of religious tolerance in the Middle East and said that the absence of understanding, the restriction of freedoms and the vagueness of the situation in the region are prompting many young people to flee their country.
“Every form of violence, discrimination, and expression of intolerance against Jewish, Christian and Muslim believers or against places of worship must be firmly rejected,” he said. “The ambiguity of the situation and the lack of understanding between the parties continue to cause insecurity and restrict basic freedoms and a huge number of people fled their land”.
