Happy Gandhi Jayanti! Mahatma Gandhi quotes on his birthday and International Day of Non Violence

Happy Gandhi Jayanti! Today is a celebration of both Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and, very appropriately, the International Day of Non-Violence. 2 October 2018 would have been Gandhi’s 149th birthday after being born on that date in Porbandar in 1869. Celebrations are held across the world today, but especially in India where Gandhi led his non-violent campaign against British rule. With the 150th anniversary of Gandhi’s birth coming next year, the Indian government has said it wants to lead the world in two full years of celebrations. To start those celebrations off, here are some of the great man’s most memorable quotes…

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.’

‘Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.’

‘Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.’

‘You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.’

‘Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.’

‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.’

‘Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.’

“A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes”
