BOGOTÁ / The Inter-American Observatory for Human Rights and the Inter-American Office for Peace and Sustainable Development honored H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), in recognition of his efforts to promote tolerance, peace, and dialogue among peoples, as well as his contributions to advancing human rights and sustainable development.
The ceremony, held in the Colombian capital, Bogotá, included the presentation of a medal, a ceremonial sash, and an institutional certificate of recognition, acknowledging Aljarwan’s commitment and contributions to peacebuilding in Colombia and around the world, his support for communities most in need, and his efforts to promote the values of tolerance, citizenship, and peace.
The honoring organizations praised Aljarwan’s leadership of international initiatives aimed at building bridges of cooperation among peoples, cultures, and institutions, promoting dialogue and peaceful coexistence, and safeguarding human dignity. They also underscored the importance of education and empowering younger generations in spreading a culture of peace.

Aljarwan expressed his sincere appreciation to Dr. Víctor Hugo Almanza, Director of the Inter-American Office for Peace and Sustainable Development, and Dr. Lennart Mauricio Castro López, Director of Graduate Studies at the Office, commending their efforts to advance peace, human rights, and education. He affirmed that the recognition represents a renewed commitment to continue working for tolerance, peace, dialogue, and the preservation of the dignity of every human being.
The Inter-American Office for Peace and Sustainable Development works to promote peace, human rights, cooperation, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts through research and training programs, as well as initiatives supporting human rights defenders.
