Colombian president receives Al Jarwan and the members of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace

  Ivan Duque Marquez, President of the Republic of Colombia, has received Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and members of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace participating at its the seventh session, which is held at the headquarters of the Colombian Parliament in the capital, Bogotá. His excellency Salem Al Owais, ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Colombia, has also witnessed that reception.

 The President of the Republic of Colombia affirmed his country’s support for the orientations and goals of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, which aim at promoting tolerance and raising its values all over the world, stressing his happiness that his country hosts the seventh session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.

 Al-Jarwan thanked the Colombian President for the generous hospitality and the warm welcome, praising Colombia’s effort and great support for the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, stressing that hosting this session is the best proof of Colombia’s interest in matters of tolerance and peace around the world.

Al-Jarwan has signed memorandums of understanding and joint work with the Colombian university, Sergio Arboleda, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Colombian university in the fields of tolerance and peace and partnership to promote tolerance education in the cultural and scientific fields.

  At the headquarters of the Colombian Parliament, the seventh session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace was held in the presence of Al Jarwan, the President of the Colombian Senate Juan Diego Gomez, the president of the congress of Guatemala Allan Rodríguez, the President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace Margarita Restrepo, several members of the Colombian Parliament, as well as several officials and diplomats and representatives of national parliaments from around the world, and members of the International Parliament For Tolerance and Peace.

 Al-Jarwan gave a speech in which he thanked Colombia’s leadership, government, parliament and people for hosting the Parliament of Tolerance and Peace session, during which he reviewed the most important achievements of the Council, its International Parliament and its General Assembly, praising the efforts of its members and calling on them to do more work through its committees concerned, with the aim of promoting and raising the values ​​of tolerance and peace, stressing that the Council will spare no effort to activate the role of these committees and achieve their objectives.

 Al-Jarwan touched upon the importance of the leading role of women in national and international parliaments, praising Ms. Margarita Restrepo presidency of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, and underscoring the Council’s support for the leading role of women in parliamentary work, especially in matters of tolerance and peace.

 He also called for a joint parliamentary assembly in the field of environmental protection and climate change, and stressed the importance of working on reducing the negative effects of climate change, and discussed ways to protect against it through a joint international parliamentary action that the Council would work on preparing for it soon.

 On the margins of the conference, the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace has signed memorandums of understanding and joint work with the parliaments of Panama and Uruguay, with the aim of uniting efforts to support and raise the values ​​of tolerance and peace in Central and South America and the world as a whole.
