Chaired by Al Jarwan and sponsored by the President of the Republic of Malta The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace celebrates the International Day for Tolerance
The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace held a global conference to celebrate the International Day for Tolerance, under the patronage of H. E. Dr. George Vella, President of the Republic of Malta, and chaired by H. E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and in the presence of H. E. Angelo Farrugia, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta, and a group of prominent officials, parliamentarians, and prominent academics around the world in the fields of tolerance and peace, at the Verdala Palace Hall in the Republic of Malta.
The President of the Republic of Malta welcomed the guests of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and his partners participating in the conference, thanking the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and its President Al Jarwan for organizing such a global celebration, in support of spreading and enhancing the endeavors of tolerance and peace around the world. He stated that the Republic of Malta is proud of the Council’s presence in their land, affirming his Country’s continuous support for the Council and its orientation, and pointing out the importance of celebrating the International Day for Tolerance because of the impact of such interaction in enhancing the importance of tolerance.
Al Jarwan thanked the Maltese President, the Government, the Parliament, and the people of the Republic of Malta for hosting this global ceremony, and stated that: Tolerance and peace are an urgent necessity and a way of life, called for by the monotheistic religions and all cultures. In addition, he stated, “On November 16 of each year, the United Nations and the whole world celebrate to commemorate the International Day for Tolerance, and we are all required to participate in this very important occasion to spread the values of tolerance and peace, stressing that celebrating this day means that we are participants and supporters heading towards an international and global action of which we can spread peace, tolerance, and love through. We at the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace celebrate this anniversary, and we ask everyone to interact with this occasion in order to send a message to the future and to future generations about the importance of tolerance, peace, and spreading these values among societies”.
On behalf of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, Al Jarwan has presented the shield of the International Day for Tolerance to Dr. George Vella, the President of the Republic of Malta.
During his address, Al Jarwan declared that the Council is working on designating a competition, through which a reward is presented to the best project submitted to serve dissemination of culture and values of tolerance and peace.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Maltaa ffirmed that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has become an international umbrella that combines all international, parliamentary and educational efforts in order to consolidate and raise the values of tolerance and peace throughout the world.
Several Officials, Parliamentarians and Academics gave various speeches to celebrate the International Day for Tolerance and Peace, through which they called for various initiatives to enhance the culture of tolerance and peace. Moreover, the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace is working on considering and strengthening all concerned initiatives in order to raise and consolidate the culture of tolerance and peace throughout the world.
