Al Jarwan’s speech on the occasion of the International Day of Tolerance and the National Festival of Tolerance
The president of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan said on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance and the National Festival of Tolerance: “The International Day for Tolerance is an important international event that was established by the UNESCO in 1995 and approved by the United Nations to be an international event that reminds us all around the world of the importance of continuous work to spread tolerance and face extremism and intolerance.”
Cultivating the concept of tolerance among generations and peoples instills in them a spirit of understanding and acceptance of the others and expels from their imaginations the negative thoughts such as intolerance, extremism, hate, violence and terrorism that some seek to inculcate. The world must realize that through the practice of tolerance we can achieve true peace in the world in order to prevail security, safety and stability among peoples.
We, in the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, are working with all our members and partners and through the various organs of the Council, the most important of which is the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace and the General Assembly for Tolerance and Peace, to cultivate a culture of tolerance around the world especially in the educational and cultural fields and in the media and to develop international laws in a way that promotes tolerance in order, for the world, to reap the benefits of this tolerance and achieve stability and prosperity for all peoples.
