Al-Jarwan discusses with Weiderud promoting cooperation with Sweden to spread peace culture
HE Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met with HE Peter Weiderud, Director of the Swedish Institute in Alexandria in Egypt of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Al-Jarwan briefed Mr. Weiderud on the work, objectives and most important achievements of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace since its launch in Malta under the patronage of the Maltese Prime Minister on November 2, 2017, along with its most important plans and strategies.
On his part, the head of the Swedish Institute in Alexandria praised the great work of the Council during the short period and its lofty goals and future plans.
The two sides also discussed ways to raise the values of tolerance in the world in order to achieve sustainable peace around the world. They also discussed the mechanism of developing cooperation between the Council and the State of Sweden and the Scandinavian countries in general with the aim of achieving more support for tolerance programs among peoples, especially the young generations, to promote the spirit of love and acceptance of others and peace for all peoples, and to counter radical and extremist ideas that promote hatred, exclusion and racism.
Mr. Weiderud warmly welcomed cooperation with the Council and expressed his strong support for what it has achieved and is seeking to achieve. He affirmed his support and that of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
