Ahmed Al Jarwan, Chilean officials discuss spreading tolerance, peace
SANTIAGO, 3rd March, 2019 (WAM) — Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met with officials in Chile to discuss how to spread peace and tolerance throughout the world.
During his visit to Chile, Al Jarwan and his delegation met with Carlos Montes, Speaker of the Chilean Parliament, Andrés Chadwick, Chilean Minister of Interior and Public Security, and Carolina Valdivia Torres, Chilean Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
The Chilean officials welcomed the visit of the delegation, and its international efforts to spread tolerance.
Montes called on the council to open an office in Chile and sign a cooperation agreement, while praising Al Jarwan’s role in heading the council, as well as the council’s achievements. He also affirmed the Chilean Parliament’s support for the council and its goals.
Al Jarwan praised the social fabric of Chile, which is spreading the values of tolerance and peace among its communities.
He also explained the work of the council and the related efforts of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, while highlighting the importance of the cooperation between relevant bodies, whether governments, parliaments, universities or individuals, in spreading tolerance, to achieve global peace.
Al Jarwan and his delegation also met with the Director of the Inter-Religious Dialogue Council of Chile, while affirming his support for the Chilean council’s initiatives to spread the true image of religions that call for tolerance and coexistence.
The delegation then visited the headquarters of the Palestino Club, which showcases the Palestinian community’s coexistence with the Chilean people, while praising Chile’s liberty, tolerance and peace.
