Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Strongly Condemns U.S. Ambassador’s Remarks on Israel’s Alleged “Right to Expand”

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has strongly condemned the recent statements made by the U.S. Ambassador to Israel regarding what he described as Israel’s “right to expand,” warning that such remarks represent a dangerous position that directly contradicts the established principles governing relations between states.

The Council stressed that these statements amount to an explicit justification of policies that impose realities on the ground at the expense of the legitimate rights not only of the Palestinian people, but of the Arab people more broadly, who are directly affected by the expansionist actions referenced.

In an official statement, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, described the remarks as an extremely serious and troubling precedent, as they effectively provide political cover for expansion and settlement practices. He emphasized that such positions run counter to long-standing international principles rejecting the imposition of faits accomplis by force and opposing any measures that alter the legal and historical status of occupied territories.

Al Jarwan further warned that promoting rhetoric that justifies territorial expansion or legitimizes settlement activity poses a direct threat to regional and international stability. He noted that such discourse undermines the prospects for achieving a just and comprehensive peace, while weakening international efforts aimed at upholding justice, respect for state sovereignty, and the rights of peoples.

The Council affirmed that genuine peace cannot be built on domination or the imposition of realities by force, but rather on strict adherence to principles that safeguard the rights of peoples, alongside serious and sustained efforts toward a fair settlement that ends occupation and establishes lasting stability in the region.

It also called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities by taking clear and firm positions against any statements or policies that encourage expansion or erode the foundations of international law, in order to preserve global peace and reinforce the principles of justice.

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace reiterated that rejecting expansionist policies and the imposition of faits accomplis, while protecting the rights of peoples, constitutes the essential foundation for any sustainable peace grounded in justice, coexistence, and stability.
