The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Publishes a Book on the Legal Aspects of Combating Hate

The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, in cooperation with the College of Law at City University Ajman, has released an academic book titled “The Legal Aspects of Combating Hate and Establishing the Principles of Tolerance and Peace,” as part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of tolerance and entrench the values of peace at both the regional and international levels.

The publication comprises two volumes containing a collection of peer-reviewed academic studies that were presented and discussed during a conference organized this year by the Council in partnership with the University. The studies were prepared by a distinguished group of researchers, academics, and experts from across the Arab world, as well as from the League of Arab States, who participated in the conference. These papers address a range of international and national dimensions related to combating hate speech and promoting the principles of tolerance and peace, in addition to relevant religious and legal perspectives.

Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, affirmed that these volumes constitute a qualitative addition to the Arab library, given the in-depth comparative and analytical studies they contain of various international conventions and Arab legislations, including criminal laws and media regulation frameworks.

He noted that the research featured in the book was authored by scholars from different Arab universities, alongside contributions from members of judicial, legislative, and executive bodies in the Arab world—reflecting specialized Arab perspectives grounded in practical experience within Arab societies.

Aljarwan explained that making such publications available in university libraries and academic institutions supports scientific research and encourages students and researchers to undertake further specialized studies in the fields of tolerance and peace. He emphasized that these volumes serve as an important reference for scholars and researchers, as well as for international organizations, legislative bodies, and national institutions.

He added that the studies presented in the book offer forward-looking perspectives for the development of international conventions, national legislations, and public policies, in ways that keep pace with global changes and help address the challenges facing societies on the ground.

The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace stressed that the publication of these volumes enhances the sustainability of outcomes from scientific conferences and broadens their reach—particularly among Arab youth—thereby translating efforts to promote the values of tolerance and peace into tangible realities within societies.
