President of North Macedonia Receives the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace
H.E. Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, President of the Republic of North Macedonia, received H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and his accompanying delegation at the Presidential Office in Skopje, as part of an official visit by the Council to the country from 20 to 21 November 2025.
The delegation of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace included H.E. Edin Derlik, Vice-President of the Serbian Parliament and Member of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace; H.E. Iulius Firczak, Member of the Romanian Parliament and Member of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace; as well as Professor Zoran Ilievski, Director of the Council’s Office in North Macedonia.
During the visit, H.E. Ahmed Al Jarwan and H.E. Afrim Gashi, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the National Assembly aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and developing joint programmes to promote tolerance and peace across Europe and internationally.

Al Jarwan and the Council’s delegation also joined the President of the Republic in the public celebration of the International Day for Tolerance at the main square in central Skopje, an event that drew broad official and public participation.
In a related engagement, the President of the Council and Professor Sasho Gjorgjievski, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, signed an academic cooperation agreement at the university’s headquarters in Skopje. The agreement aims to enhance academic collaboration and develop joint research and educational initiatives dedicated to advancing the values of tolerance, peace, and societal stability.
Al Jarwan also took part in a wide-ranging discussion with professors and students of the Faculty of Law, highlighting the importance of promoting a culture of tolerance and its essential role in peace-building and fostering mutual understanding among peoples.
The visit concluded with an official dinner marking the International Day for Tolerance, attended by the President of North Macedonia, the Speaker of Parliament, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a number of prominent figures from Macedonian society.
