Lebanese Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi receives President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi received Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, today at the patriarchal summer headquarters in Dimane, Lebanon.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and joint action for the benefit of tolerance and peace in the region and the world. Al-Rahi praised the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in promoting peaceful coexistence among peoples and supporting tolerance and peace.
For his part, Al Jarwan said Lebanon is fortunate to have a national and spiritual figure of the stature of Patriarch Al-Rahi, noting that the world is going through sensitive circumstances and serious challenges that require influential voices calling for peace, security, and stability in the region.
Al Jarwan added that his visit to Lebanon was a strong motivation to continue working on spreading the values of love and tolerance. He stressed that Patriarch Al-Rahi represents a national and spiritual symbol not only for Lebanon but also for the region and the world, and a reference for all peace advocates from different sects and religions.
The president of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace revealed that discussions with the Patriarch touched on the Council’s vision for the next stage, which includes opening a regional office in Lebanon, in addition to organizing international events and conferences in partnership with stakeholders in the country, in service of the peace process and in harmony with the aspirations of the Lebanese people and their leadership.
Al Jarwan concluded by affirming the depth of the relationship with Lebanon, expressing his gratitude to the Lebanese people and leadership and to Patriarch Al-Rahi for the warm welcome. “We are here among our family and friends, and we feel we are in our second home,” he said.
