Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Signs Landmark Agreement with the Congress of Peru


In a significant step toward advancing international collaboration in the promotion of peace and tolerance, the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) has signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Congress of the Republic of Peru. The (MoU) was signed by H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the GCTP, and H.E. Eduardo Salhuana Cavides, President of the Peruvian Congress, during a high-level meeting at the Congress headquarters in Lima.

The MoU aims to foster a strong and structured partnership between both institutions, focusing on shared initiatives to promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable development both across Latin America and globally. The signing took place as part of an official GCTP delegation visit to Peru, a key stop in the Council’s ongoing efforts to expand its parliamentary and diplomatic partnerships worldwide.

During the signing, both parties underscored the importance of intercultural and interfaith dialogue, and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts to combat extremism and violence. Discussions also covered the activation of the MoU through joint conferences, mutual exchange of parliamentary experiences, and closer coordination in international forums on matters related to peace and tolerance.

H.E. Aljarwan expressed his deep appreciation for Peru’s commitment to dialogue and peaceful coexistence, commending the leadership and collaborative spirit of the Peruvian Congress. He also highlighted the important role played by Congresswoman Maricarmen Alva in facilitating and coordinating the agreement.

For his part, H.E. Eduardo Salhuana Cavides praised the Global Council’s role in promoting global peace and human dignity, affirming the Congress’s dedication to a fruitful and lasting partnership with the GCTP in support of shared humanitarian values.

This new agreement marks another milestone in the Council’s growing global network of legislative cooperation, further cementing its role as a key international platform for building peace, tolerance, and understanding among nations.
