The International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace will hold its first session in the Maltese Parliament next June
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, met, this morning, with the President of the Maltese Parliament, Mr. Angelo Farrugia, in the Maltese capital Valletta.
The meeting was held to discuss means of cooperation and joint action between the Council and the Maltese Parliament in order to promote the culture of tolerance and peace around the world.
Mr. Angelo Farrugia greeted Al-Jarwan and praised his efforts in spreading the values of tolerance and supporting peace in the world. He also expressed his admiration for the achievements of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, stressing its important role during the coming period as an international platform for tolerance, love and peace.
For his part, Al-Jarwan praised the support of the Maltese government and parliament for the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, hosting the Council’s headquarters on Malta’s territory, and providing services and facilities for peace efforts and spreading the values of tolerance, reflecting Malta’s neutrality and its ancient role as a land of love, tolerance and peace for all people around the world.
The two parties agreed on holding the first procedural session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in the Great Hall of the Maltese Parliament in June this year, in the presence of parliamentary and international figures and leaders.
The International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace is one of the organs of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace. It is composed of parliamentarians from all over the world and is exclusively concerned with issues of tolerance and peace. It also discusses ways to instill and spread a culture of tolerance and peace around the world to face extremism, intolerance, racism and conflict.
