His Excellency Mohamed Bemb Mekt, Speaker of the Mauritanian National Assembly, welcomed a delegation from the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, led by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Council, at the Assembly’s headquarters in Nouakchott. The meeting addressed several issues of mutual interest, focusing on strengthening cooperation in promoting tolerance and peace.
During the meeting, Al Jarwan and Speaker Bemb Mekt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Mauritanian National Assembly. The agreement aims to foster collaboration and joint efforts in parliamentary fields to support peacebuilding and the promotion of tolerance. Al Jarwan emphasized that the MoU formalizes the partnership between the two institutions, enhancing their communication and cooperation on shared objectives.
In his remarks, Al Jarwan acknowledged Mauritania’s rich scientific and cultural heritage, stressing the importance of working together to spread the universal values of love, brotherhood, and mutual understanding, which are foundational to peaceful coexistence.
The meeting was attended by several deputies of the National Assembly, including its Secretary-General, Mr. Abdallahi Ould Saleh, and various members of the Assembly’s Bureau. Also present were His Excellency Dr. Musabah Belajid Al-Ketbi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Mauritania, along with members of the delegation accompanying the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
