The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Initiative Foundation
The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the President of the Global Initiative for Ageing Foundation (GIA), H.E. Luis Gabiogos Chiriboga in order to develop a framework for future cooperation between the council and the GIA foundation which was established in 2022 and is concerned with supporting the goals of the United Nations in terms of sustainable development, caring for the elderly, supporting decent life, equality, coexistence, peace and community engagement of the elderly through partnerships with a number of local governments, international organizations, civil society, academic centers, universities and the Spanish private sector.
The Signature ceremony took place at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (CIFAL.UNITRA) in Málaga, southern Spain, in the presence of the Director of the International Centre for The Preparation of Leaders in CIFAl. Malaga, Mr. Julio Andrade, Member of the Spanish Parliament and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP), H.E. Mrs. Carolina Spain Rabeina, the Permanent Deputy Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Switzerland,, H.E. Mrs. Lobna Kassim, and the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Director of its Office in Italy, Dr. Abdul Aziz Ahmed Sarhan, along with a number of advisors and officials of the Malaga city council.
H.E. Chiriboga praised what was stated in the MoU in terms of cooperation with the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and its various organs, as well as the Council’s tireless efforts in supporting the values and culture of peace, coexistence and tolerance in various countries of the world through diplomacy, dialogue, parliamentary action, international cooperation, building partnerships with various academic centers and universities around the world; in addition to signing cooperation agreements with a large number of parliaments, international organizations, civil society, universities and prominent research and academic centers in many countries of the world in order to support its goals to promote a culture of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and peace supporting sustainable development, women and equality.
For his part, Al Jarwan stressed that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and its various organs continue to work to have strong partnerships with various local parliaments in various countries of the world as well as with international organizations affiliated with the United Nations and the civil societies in order to achieve the council’s main objectives of supporting a culture of peace and tolerance around the world.
