Royal Palace in Seville hosts an international conference on religious tolerance, aiming to discuss the role of clerics in supporting tolerance and peace
H. E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), stated that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace will hold the activities of the “International Conference on the Role of Clerics in Promoting Tolerance and Peace” on July 2, 2024, at the Royal Palace “Real Alcázar” in Seville, in cooperation with the Foundation for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance in Spain. The conference will witness the attendance of religious and academic figures, policy makers and peace advocates from various countries of the world, to discuss and examine ways to enhance the pivotal and essential role played by clerics in supporting tolerance and peace among pluralistic societies that have been affected by sharp polarization these days.
The objectives of this conference are primarily based on supporting and promoting interfaith dialogue, supporting mutual understanding and respect between different religious communities, and highlighting the positive roles that clerics have been mobilized to establish peace and tolerance. The conference also aims to launch action plans that can be implemented by leaders Religious leaders in their communities to combat fanaticism and promote tolerance, in addition to building and strengthening international networks of religious leaders concerned with promoting these values. One of the desired outcomes of this conference is the establishment of a coordinating committee for the role of religious leaders in promoting the values of peace and tolerance.
