In G20 Interfaith Forum .. AlJarwan calls for peace-building rather than weaponization and wars

H. E. Ahmed bin Mohammed AlJarwan, the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, called for adopting new strategies and approaches globally to strengthen the culture of respect for others, promote dialogue, protect beliefs, defend justice, and raise the values of tolerance and human fraternity in order to get and more secure and peaceful world.
During the address at the opening session of the G20 Interfaith Forum held in the Italian city of Bologna – AlJarwan stated: “Our world has recently witnessed an increase in discrimination, radicalism, violence and terrorism, and soaring corruption and inequity rates, which obliges us to join our forces, and cherish peace and work for it. It is time to adopt new strategies and approaches globally to strengthen the culture of respect for others, promote dialogue, protect beliefs, defend justice, and raise the values of tolerance and human fraternity in order to get and more secure and peaceful world”.
The Forum aims to support interfaith dialogue and promote tolerance and peace. The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace participates in its organization through calling a group of Presidents and Members of National and Regional Parliaments for holding a high level Parliamentary Symposium entitled “The Role of Parliamentarians in Supporting Interfaith Dialogue and Tolerance and Peace”.
AlJarwan added: “The world is still healing from the implications of Corona Pandemic and its negative impact on our minds, spirits and societies. This pandemic has emphasized on the significance of joint work among various societies and countries, the necessity of unification to face different challenges, considering the importance of preparedness for addressing threats that may meet all humanity, harnessing resources to protect humankind and building peace rather than weaponization and wars”.
He stressed the significance of environment protection so as to preserve the peace and security of societies, calling for inter-parliamentary meetings that discuss climate change solutions, and present bills for environmental protection to be obligated. He was also pointing out that the Council believes that the world peoples have the right to achieve security, stability and development. In addition, he is anxiously watching the developments of the situation in Afghanistan, and hopes that the Afghan people and the rest of the world will enjoy security, stability and peace.
Furthermore, he called for developing radical solutions regarding illegal immigration through joint international action, in order to support and develop the source regions of immigrants.
Besides, as a side event during the session, AlJarwan has met H. E. Borut Pahor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, where AlJarwan briefed him on the objectives and accomplishments of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
The Slovenian President emphasized the role of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in supporting and promoting the culture of tolerance and peace support around the world.
