Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Graduates First Batch of Master’s Students in Tolerance; Catholic University of Murcia Honors Al Jarwan
The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, along with his delegation, attended the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of students in the Master’s program in Tolerance Studies and Global Peace at San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, Spain, in collaboration with Spain’s Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance Foundation.
Along with the Spanish university’s Leaders and faculty members, Al Jarwan awarded Master’s degrees in Tolerance Studies and Global Peace to the graduates. This event also marked the graduation of the 15th cohort from the College of Education, Communication, and Social Studies at the Spanish university. The first 24 students worldwide to complete the Master’s program in Tolerance and Peace Studies received scholarships from the council, equipping them with unique skills to promote and implement values of tolerance and peace globally. Al Jarwan expressed pride in this achievement, congratulating the graduates and thanking everyone who believed in and contributed to the project’s success. He also Handed over the academic certifications to students from the Master’s program in Human Rights. Graduates praised the educational quality at the Spanish university, encouraging continued collaboration between the council and San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, Spain.
Al Jarwan remarked on this occasion, “This unique global achievement began as an idea proposed during the General Assembly Conference of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in Malta in 2019, attended by the President of Malta. The idea quickly gained momentum, leading to the formation of a dedicated team in 2020. By 2021, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the idea evolved into a concrete program. Through discussions with several universities, the program found a home at UCAM University, now offered in English and Spanish.”
Dr. Basma El Zein, Director of the Master’s program, expressed her satisfaction with the completion of this pioneering global initiative, praising the efforts of the students and the faculty at the Spanish university.
The Catholic University of San Antonio in Murcia, Spain, honored Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, as an exceptional leader in global tolerance and peace, recognizing his contributions to promoting global peace and tolerance. This honor was conferred by the university’s president, Maria Dolores Garcia Mascarrell, and unanimously approved by the university’s Board of Trustees during their session on June 28, 2024. It acknowledges Al Jarwan’s dedication and efforts in spreading the culture of peace and tolerance in various communities and countries, gaining international recognition.
President Mascarrell presented the accreditation certificate and commemorative shield to Al Jarwan in Murcia on July 4, 2024, during a distinguished ceremony attended by university leaders. She emphasized that this event is a significant occasion for the university and the global peace community to highlight Al Jarwan’s past achievements and future initiatives aimed at promoting global harmony and understanding. The Spanish university president also noted that this honor symbolizes the university’s commitment to recognizing and supporting leaders who strive to make a positive change in the world, serving as an inspiration to students, faculty, and the community as a whole.
