MADRID, 6th February, 2020 (WAM) – His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), and Francisco De La Torre Prados, Mayor of Malaga City in the Spanish Kingdom, discussed ways of enhancing joint cooperation in the domains of tolerance and peace.
During the meeting, which took place yesterday at the Malaga City Council, De La Torre Prados welcomed Aljarwan and the GCTP delegation, praising the key role of the Council in promoting the values of tolerance and unifying the international efforts in the domains of tolerance , and spreading love and peace around the world.
His Excellency also lauded the UAE’s approach of promoting tolerance, calling on Spain, especially Malaga, to become a regional European centre for promoting tolerance and peace, and he pledged to establish a centre for this purpose.
His Excellency Aljarwan, for his part, thanked Prados for his hospitality, praising Spain’s role and leadership in promoting peace in Europe and around the world, as well as for its fruitful cooperation with the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
On the other hand, Marta González Vázquez, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Parliament, and other members of the committee received His Excellency Aljarwan and the accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the Spanish Parliament in the capital, Madrid, as the two sides discussed ways of enhancing cooperation and joint work and unifying the parliamentary efforts in the fields of tolerance and peace.
Vázquez lauded the efforts exerted by the GCTP and its International Parliament for unifying the global parliamentary efforts around the world to promote and spread the values of tolerance and peace in all the countries and continents of the world.
She also welcomed the Spanish Parliament’s membership at the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (GPTP) and nominated Carolina Espana Rena as Spain’s representative at the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace.
Earlier, GCTP President His Excellency Aljarwan and the accompanying delegation also met with Dr. Juan José Hinojosa Torralvo, President of Malaga Law University, who stressed that the academic system is one of the most effective and successful tools for promoting tolerance and peace, highlighting his university’s desire to join the GCTP General Assembly which includes in its membership institutions, universities and individuals who work in the domains of tolerance and peace.
