Cyprus supports the joint work with the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and backs up its efforts

HE Demetris Syllouris, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus welcomed HE Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and his accompanying delegation in Cyprus and praised the role of the Council through the dissemination of a culture of awareness and acceptance of the other, dialogue and moderation, and the promotion of the values of tolerance and international peace.

HE Al-Jarwan briefed HE Syllouris on the latest work developments of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and its mechanisms to promote a culture of tolerance, support peace efforts around the world, and confront extremist ideas, racism and terrorism.

Al-Jarwan commended the role of Cyprus and its status in spreading tolerance and peace and the importance of its geographical position in linking East and West. He explained to Syllouris the role of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, one of the organs of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, and its efforts to unify the relevant international parliamentary endeavors to spread tolerance and promote peace in the world. Al-Jarwan called on Syllouris to nominate a member of the House of Representatives of Cyprus for the membership of the International Parliament for tolerance and peace.

For his part, Syllouris praised the role of the Council and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, stressing the importance of the role played by the Council, especially in the circumstances that the world is currently going through. He pointed out that the presence of such international effort is an urgent necessity. Syllouris expressed the readiness of the House of Representatives of Cyprus to work together and harness all possibilities to support the efforts of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and join the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace through the nomination of a representative.
