His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Aljarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, stressed the importance of the role of the United Nations, which was founded 76 years ago, in establishing international peace and security. This came on the anniversary of the United Nations World Day, corresponding to October 24 of each year.

Aljarwan added that the excessive accumulation and illicit trade in conventional weapons threaten international peace, security and sustainable development, especially if they fall into the hands of irresponsible parties or terrorist organizations and elements.
