Al Jarwan discusses venues of cooperation between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the United Nations Office for Counterterrorism in Madrid, Spain
The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), H.E. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, met with the Head of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office in Madrid, H.E. Ignacio Ibáñez Ferrandez.
Al Jarwan expressed gratitude to the Spanish official for the warm welcome and presented the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and its main organs’ activities, projects, and efforts in supporting and promoting a culture of peace, peaceful coexistence, equality, and tolerance through several axes, most notably diplomacy, parliamentary work, education, and international cooperation, by establishing strong partnerships with various institutions concerned with this. All of this has resulted in the addition of more than 100 members from different local parliaments throughout the world to the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace. In order to strengthen the values that support peaceful coexistence, fraternity, and peace in a large number of countries around the world and to push for the resolution of conflicts and differences through peaceful means, he made reference to the institutions of the member states of the Council.
Al Jarwan also lauded the role of the Kingdom of Spain and its various institutions as an authentic role model in promoting efforts to spread a culture of peace, peaceful coexistence, and tolerance throughout the world. He also praised Spain’s prominent position in many international initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts through peaceful means and promoting development, prosperity, and well-being in a number of countries, particularly in the regions of Latin America.
During this meeting, The Head of the United Nations Office in Madrid, for his part, applauded the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace’s efforts to promote tolerance, peace, and peaceful coexistence among the diverse peoples of the world.
He also praised the role of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP) in supporting and promoting a culture of tolerance around the world, through its sessions held in a number of countries of the world during the past years.
H.E. Ignacio Ibáñez Ferrandez thanked the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace for his interest in establishing a partnership between the Council and the United Nations Regional Office in Madrid as well as in fostering collaboration with the UN agencies and offices with headquarters in Spain.
