The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in Nouakchott, the nation’s capital.

The conference gathered a distinguished audience, including clerics, scholars, statesmen, and diplomats. Al Jarwan expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Mauritanian President for his continued sponsorship of the annual conference, acknowledging Mauritania’s significant contributions to promoting peace and tolerance in accordance with the values of Islam. He commended the Republic’s ongoing efforts in fostering security, peaceful coexistence, and stability in the region and beyond.

In his address, Al Jarwan emphasized the critical role of religious leaders in nurturing the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among societies and nations. He highlighted the Council’s commitment to these values, citing the recent international conference in Seville, organized by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace. The conference focused on the role of religious leaders in advancing tolerance, with a key outcome being the establishment of a roundtable to unite clerics in their efforts to promote peace and understanding.

Concluding his speech, Al Jarwan called on the clerics, scholars, and jurists present to collaborate with the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace in pursuit of the greater good for their peoples, ensuring security, stability, and a future built on the values of peace and tolerance.
