Al-Jarwan and Al-Shamisi, ambassadors of peace in appreciation of their international efforts
The President of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Dr. Thomas Walsh granted, both, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Lebanon Dr. Hamad Saeed Al Shamisi and the President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace HE Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, as Ambassadors of Peace in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the field of tolerance and peace on an international level, during a conference held at Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut yesterday, in the presence of diplomats, academics and peace activists.
HE Al-Jarwan and Dr. Walsh signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the Universal Peace Federation during the inauguration of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace.
Earlier that day, HE Al-Jarwan participated in a workshop entitled “The Role of Lebanon in Promoting Democracy, Peace and Prosperity in the Middle Eastern Context” held in the Lebanese Parliament, in the presence of MPs Khoder Habib, Ali Bazzi, Serge Torsarkissian and Nadim Gemayel, and a number of diplomats and peace activists.
In his address, HE Al-Jarwan stressed that “it is a distinctive gesture to support peace efforts around the world, We seek to build a future in which ignorance and extremism are eradicated, hatred is scattered and terrorism is repealed from its roots by global strategies and international partnerships at various levels.”
