His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, welcomed His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, at his office in Al-Azhar Sheikhdom in Cairo.
The Grand Imam warmly received Al Jarwan and commended the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace’s efforts, emphasizing his support for the Council’s initiatives to promote tolerance and peace.
Both leaders underscored the crucial role of religious clerics in addressing international challenges and combating the rising tide of hatred. They called for the active participation of clerics in diplomatic and constructive efforts to foster peace globally, highlighting the importance of religious leaders in advocating for the rejection of hatred, wars, and violence.
Al Jarwan briefed the Grand Imam on the achievements of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, particularly the outcomes of the recent conference held in Seville, Spain. The conference focused on the role of clerics in spreading the values of tolerance and peace. He discussed the mechanisms for implementing these outcomes through collaborative international efforts among religious leaders.
Al Jarwan also emphasized the significance of organizing a roundtable to discuss and enhance joint efforts in promoting tolerance and peace.
In response, His Eminence the Grand Imam reaffirmed his support for the collaboration between Al-Azhar University and the Council, particularly regarding the Master’s Program in Tolerance Studies and Global Peace launched by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace.
